MoA&FW and NAFED Introduce Millets Experience Centre
On April 28, 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) collaborated with the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) to open the first ‘Millets Experience Centre’ (MEC). This effort, located at Dilli Haat, INA (Indian National Airways) in New Delhi, attempts to improve public knowledge of millets and promote their use.
About Millets Experience Centre (MEC):
i. The newly established Millets Experience Centre (MEC) located at Dilli Haat, renowned as the food bazaar of Delhi and a popular cultural destination for global visitors, offers an opportunity for individuals to immerse themselves in India’s ‘Millet Movement’.
ii. By providing a platform for consumers seeking healthier alternatives, the MEC aims to expand their horizons and shed light on India’s vibrant millet-based startup community.
iii. In the future, MECs are expected to be established not only in Delhi but also in other states through collaborations with retail chains, hotels, and the food and beverage industry.
iv. At the MEC, consumers can explore an extensive millet menu and enjoy an immersive shopping experience with a diverse range of millet-based products, promoting a nutritious and wholesome diet.
